Roger Johnson

The son of a teenage mother, I went to jail for armed robbery at the age of 18 as did my father before me. Since my release in 2001, I have purchased a home, started both an adult vocational training center and a behavioral health practice (I currently have 12 employees). At the intersection of those businesses I have created programming that has worked with hundreds of individuals helping them either avoid or rise from homelessness. I have been ordained as a minister for 12 years and have actively volunteered in Connecticut halfway houses, sober houses, and prisons since 2003. My post incarceration achievements have been recognized by the NAACP, Project Longevity New Haven, and the office of the Mayor of Hamden. Finally, I have been a husband for 18 years and have been a father to my children (with my 2 oldest having graduated college).
