Solomon Maye

Solomon's background as an at-risk youth shaped his journey. By age 13, he was in survival mode, leading to time in Juvenile Detention and later incarceration. After serving a long prison term starting in 2007, he was released on parole in 2013. It was then that Solomon Maye chose to transform his path. Instead of contributing to the community's downfall, he shifted gears to advocate for and actively participate in bringing positive changes to the community. He decided to become the person he needed growing up.

Under Mr. Maye's leadership, Get Em Boxing School, after school and summer programs, has resulted in serving over 150-200 BIPOC underserved youth participants in Greater New Haven ages 8-18 years old per year.

His hands-on approach and dedication to the young participants and their families enabled him to enhance the overall Get Em Boy Boxing School. This included establishing his non-profit organization, Tha Bridge Corp (501c3) an at-risk youth mentorship program in 2019. Through the development of Tha Bridge Corp, Mr. Maye fostered valuable partnerships with local schools, the Department of Children and Families, Behavioral Clinics, and other youth-focused nonprofit organizations to offer comprehensive services beyond boxing training and fitness.

As a result, Get Em Boy Boxing School has evolved into a prominent amateur youth boxing program with national acclaim. Over the past three years, GBBS has achieved remarkable success, securing eight national titles, such as the Silver Gloves Championship and the USA Boxing Jr Olympic Championships, claiming 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place nationally.
