Jerod Geter

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut’s PT Barnum Housing Projects, Jerod Geter’s early life was shaped by hardship, which eventually led to a 10-year prison sentence for weapon and drug-related charges. Instead of letting incarceration define him, Jerod used the time to reflect, rebuild, and prepare for a new chapter. He completed college courses, earned professional certifications, and committed himself to becoming a force for positive change. Upon his early release for good behavior, he dedicated his life to mentoring youth, counseling at-risk populations, and leading community outreach programs. Over the years, Jerod became a certified substance abuse and HIV/AIDS counselor, supervised specialized programs, and earned recognition as “Correctional Counselor of the Year” in 2017 for his work within the Department of Corrections.
Today, Jerod serves with the Connecticut Department of Corrections, where he works daily to guide, mentor, and inspire others—especially men—through both his words and his actions. His message is simple yet powerful: your past does not determine your future. Alongside his public service, he is a successful entrepreneur, real estate investor, and security company owner, using his business ventures as platforms to create opportunity and give back to the community. A devoted husband and father of four daughters, Jerod lives each day as proof that redemption is real, transformation is possible, and one committed life can change the lives of many.
